A Family Summit

Circles of Light offered sand painting to youth and family members at this Kapa‘a High School event which featured activities and presentations by many community-based organizations serving youth and families.

A Journey to Light

In September, Circles of Light co-hosted a private musical concert for adults, held on the North Shore of Kaua‘i, the benefits of which were donated to the organization to support our programs for youth.

After School Art

Circles of Light is offering free art class for youth at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. The program is supported by volunteers from the community and includes a variety of art projects for school age youth. Families are welcome!

Asthma Sports Day Camp

Circles of Light created and presented a didjeridu workshop, Sounds of Health, to youth at this annual event to feature health through music. The event was held at the Kukui Grove Center and was sponsored by the American Lung Association. Children 5 - 12 with mild to severe asthma enjoyed a variety of fun-filled outdoor activities.

Breakfast With Santa

Circles of Light provided Christmas craft activities for children and youth at this annual event held at Kukui Grove. Proceeds from the event are used to support programs of the Salvation Army.

Creating Our World

Circles of Light has been offering this creative arts workshop to youth at Lihue Court Townhomes. The workshops focus on creative goal-setting and self-expression. The series features art, writing, and collaborative cultural projects.

E Malama Kou Kino: A Day of Caring for Mind, Body, and Soul

Circles of Light is offering a series of retreat days for adults which include massage, yoga, art projects, vegetarian meals, and music. All proceeds are used to support programs for children and teens. A special thanks to all who donate time, services, and resources to these wonderful events.

Hui o Kalama Ola

Circles of Light offered sand painting of petroglyph images to high school football players from Japan at this August cultural sharing event at Anahola Beach Park. The students were here on a partnership with the Japan-based Kwansei Gakuin High School.

Kamalani Pavilion Build

In the spring, youth from Circles of Light programs created ceramic tiles which became a part of the permanent art of the new Kamalani Pavilion and Campground at Lydgate Park. Mahalo to friends from Lihue Court Townhomes and Clayworks at Kilohana for support of this project!

Kaua‘i County Farm Fair

Hands-on art projects were offered at this 4-day annual summer event in partnership with the Cradleboard Teaching Project.

Kaua‘i PowWow

Circles of Light offered art projects at this annual event held each October at the Kapa'a Beach Park. Children and adults created corn husk dolls from natural materials at our table, while enjoying the teachings, food, and crafts of the Native American culture at this community celebration.

Kaua‘ian Days

Circles of Light is displaying the Kaua‘i Community Cloth and work from the Visions Project at locations in Lihue as part of this January week-long celebration of the Kaua‘i community.

Kekaha School Christmas Fair

Make and take projects 'caught' at the fishing pond were provided at this event, and youth and adults created origami cranes to be sent to the World Peace Project for Children. Circles of Light Holiday Cards, with art created by Kaua‘i youth, were on sale. Please see the Global Connections page for more information on the World Peace Project for Children.

Koloa Days

On July 14, Circles of Light offered petroglyph sand painting to island youth and visitors at this annual event held at the Sheraton Kaua‘i as part of Koloa Plantation Days.. Participants learned about the history of petroglyphs and sand painting as ancient art forms.

National Kids Day

Sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Hawai‘i, Circles of Light offered mask making to children from around the island. The theme of the event was sharing meaningful time with children. The one-day event held August 1 at Kukui Grove Center featured make-and-take activities, live entertainment, and lots of games.

Neighborworks Week

To celebrate their 10th birthday, Lihue Court Townhomes hosted this special event on June 25. Circles of Light offered art projects to visiting families and children. The event was attended by the mayor and representatives from several community organizations.

Prevention Convention

Circles of Light provided craft activities for children and youth as they learned about drug prevention at this December event held at Kapa'a Elementary School.

Read to Me International

Opportunities for youth to create literacy-based bookmarks were offered at this annual event, held in October at the Kaua‘i Children's Discovery Museum.

The Kaua‘i Peace Project

Sand painting and the creation of origami cranes, to be sent to the World Peace Project for Children, were offered at this November event held at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club. The day was offered through a collaboration of several community partners on the island to share the hopes of Kaua‘i residents for a lasting world peace. Waimea Outdoor Quilt Festival

Annually, beautiful hand-made quilts created by visitors and residents are displayed along the quaint downtown street of Waimea at this August festival. This year, panels from the Kaua‘i Community Cloth project, originated by Circles of Light, were displayed as well. The artful panels were made from individual material pieces painted by children, depicting their love of Kaua‘i.

YWCA Candlelight Vigil

In October, the YWCA held a vigil at St. Michael and All Angels Church to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence. Circles of Light was a participant in this year's program, offering art projects and an opportunity for youth and adults to be a part of The Hands Project.
